Futurism was a movement of the artistic avant-garde, but also a historical moment in the North America of the 1950s. I see these two periods connected by their conceptions of speed, adrenaline and reliance on Enlightenment concepts.

The society was sustained by a strong welfare state that presented us with a hopeful future and a successful development that promised the citizen that there was a tomorrow, and that it was fast, efficient and, above all, promising.

Each of these neon lights is an abstraction of the 4 states of fire (from the warmest to the brightest) in this idea of fire as explosion, speed and visual dazzle.
