CÓMO CONFUNDIR LA HISTORIA I
[How to confound History I]
found μπαχαλοπετρα on picture
10 x 15 x 5 cm
2018
Above the image of a series of spectators looking at a reproduction of the Rosetta Stone, I have placed a bachalopetra -μπαχαχαλοπετρα in Greek-. This stone belongs to the stairs of the Polytechneio in Athens, the site of contemporary riots. Radical student groups break the steps to obtain projectiles that they use as rudimentary weapons against state security forces.
In front of a stone with an associated meaning, a new one, whose meaning has been progressively given in the history of our present.
CÓMO CONFUNDIR LA HISTORIA II
[How to confound History II]
Found tile on photograph
15 x 20 x 5 cm
2018
Following the same logic of the work Cómo confundir la historia I, a tile found in an old urbanized area with motifs that refer to fire and explosion has been placed over a photograph showing a flame-shaped weather vane to which a star-shaped light has been installed.
The flame of the weather vane becomes the tail of an artificial star. The motifs of the tile become the flame of the weather vane.
