PRIMERA APROXIMACIÓN AL ESPACIO QUE NOS SEPARA
Tape on floor and 4 channel sound piece
4' 00'' played on loop
2018
This sound installation, created specifically for the Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Córdoba during the 1st UAVA/ C3A Production Programme, aims to analyse space from different perspectives. The exterior space versus the interior space, the known space versus the unknown space, the creation of space versus its perception and the symbolic codes that are established in that space.
It is a piece that welcomes the spectator into the space, but also makes him aware of the communicative and symbolic distances that separate the work from the spectator.
In this first approach, 4 loudspeakers reproduce quotes from books, appropriations and linguistic exercises that highlight concepts such as linguistic relativism (through the indiscriminate use of Spanish and English), semantic saturation through the superimposition of voices, channels, concepts and the establishment of realities through their constant repetition.
On the floor, a diagram of the expansion of the universe in 4 dimensions is shown, which acts as an activator of the space, creating an inside and an outside, allowing the oscillation of the spectator through each of the speaker-communicators.
